Where did the summer go

I don’t know about you but I’m still reeling from the fact that we are fast approaching late September and Christmas is exactly 3 months away as I type this

It’s been a hectic summer with shows and recording etc ..

In the Spring we brought boy band, sorry Man Band BLUE into a Global Make Some Noise Charity event in Glasgow raising money for charities that sometimes don’t get heard.

The audience went wild for them as the show coincided with the end of their UK tour dates and the release of their new album and new single.

We seemed to go straight from that to booking the legendary Sister Sledge into Summer 70’s Live in Middlesbrough mid-June. Despite a little rain later in the day, the thousands in attendance were awe struck by this original band performing all their massive disco hits of the 70’s and 80’s before their very eyes.

The ladies were lovely to work with and were totally non demanding for divas of such stature, apart from wanting chocolate strawberries to go with their champagne which was our pleasure to do for them.

In July we booked the Live acts for Northern Pride 2015 in Newcastle, which was 3 amazing days of Live entertainment to a record 35,000 people in attendance on Newcastle’s Town Moor that weekend.

Topping the bill on Saturday were the lovely B*Witched who are clearly having more fun now second time around than they even did back in the day when they topped the charts.

Sunday brought the awesome Belinda Carlisle to headline the day and  she brought the house down singing “Circle In The Sand” “Heaven Is A Place On Earth” and her other massive worldwide hits.

In August We were busy recording songs with our artist signing Annabel Pattinson.

We were in the studio recording her new 4 track EP and launched it at an exclusive showcase at the fabulous Chez Mal at Malmaison in Newcastle.

Here I am pictured with Annabel just post show as we sold copies of her new cd to the waiting crowd at the venue. We also announced Annabel’s headline show at O2 Academy in Newcastle on Saturday 19th December 2015 that night as well, which we are all very excited about.

Later that month we provided all the main stage artist liaison for Hardwick Live 2015 (for the 3rd year running), working with the amazing Embrace, The Beat, 10CC, Razorlight, and the incredible James who headlined to a sell out Hardwick crowd of some 10,000 people strong.

Watch this space folks as we have a busy few months of artist shows ahead in the run up to Christmas – Watch this space!

The New Year Blog

Well, looking back on the last 3 months it has been a whirlwind for Moulin Music with many shows and gigs to reflect upon.

In October we agreed to work with X Factor artist Kerrianne Covell, who had just left the competition at the Judges Houses stage having been one of Sheryl Cole’s hopefuls in recent rounds of the competition.

In the 12 weeks that followed we put together a mini-tour for Kerrianne and managed all of her post X Factor bookings, getting as many of her fans to see her as possible in the run up to Christmas.

The list of appearances took us from TV shows to Store openings, Schools and Colleges to Charity Events and Awards Dinners.

Some of the memorable high-lites were working with the local media, including BBC Tees as Kerrianne performed to a 25,000 strong audience on Stockton Riverside for the Council Fireworks display on Nov 5th.

The Morpeth Xmas Lights Switch On with Steve and Karen from Metro Radio, and the SUN FM Peterlee Xmas Lights Event were stand out nights despite the chilly weather as well.

In November we were the promoters of 2 big shows in Newcastle, Glen Roughead performed with his Geordie Ratpack at the City Hall Swing For Parkinsons charity event on Nov 19th.

Swing For Parkinsons

Plus, we had top indie pop band Collectors Club headlining at The O2 Academy Newcastle for a sell out Friday night show on the 21st Nov, they truly are ones to watch in 2015!

December saw us involved in two big charity events in Glasgow on the 12th and the 19th at the CHAS Bash Events at The Glasgow Hilton.

CHAS stands for the Childrens Hospice Association of Scotland, and much money was raised across the two events.

There were memorable performances from 80’s pop legends ABC with Martin Fry and the brilliant Altered Images with Clare Grogan and her boundless energy centre stage playing to her home town audience.

Finally the year ended with some exciting news from the Moulin camp as we signed a very talented young artist to a management deal.

Annabel Pattison is just 20 years old and an outstanding singer songwriter from the north east. We think she will become a massive star in the music business in years to come, and plans are already underway to make this happen in 2015….watch this space!

From The Ice Bucket Challenge to The Jacksons

Well August went in a bit of a flash with two notable highlights for Moulin Music Live. Dodgy playing to a sundrenched audience at Shildonbury Festival – the crowd loved the day and we’ve been signed up to provide next years headline act – so watch this space.

On the bank holiday Sunday we launched Tributes In The Market Square in Darlington, and had 5 amazing acts thrill the crowd from Jessie J to Dolly Parton, we had it all – and yes we are back next August 2015 for another one

I even managed to find time to complete the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and decided to donate 25% of the profits,  to this very worthy cause, from the Roland Gift show which I was promoting at the Sage in Gateshead.

Hardwick Live on the 12th and 13th September promised to be mega and boy was it! Simple Minds headlined the Friday night with Scouting for Girls, and The Jacksons were amazing on Saturday. Yes Jim Kerr did have a couple of juicers on his rider and the biggest array of stuff to put in said juicers that you’ve ever seen, only to see it upon arrival and declare – “I’m not really doing the juice thing now”…err ok. And The Jacksons had food and beverage rider stipulations for every hour of the day that we ordered in especially only to say to me when it all turned up in their dressing room…”have you got any soup, we just want some soup”…no problem.

At Moulin Music we organized artist liaison for some 15 acts across the two days and it was the most fun ever…especially walking Adam Ant right across the whole hotel dressed in his full “Stand and Deliver” costume, and watching people’s faces as they clocked that it was in fact the real deal not some guy in fancy dress. The weekend after that was also amazing as Twister headlined at The O2 Academy Newcastle, it was mad busy, very hot…but the guys put in their best performance ever!

The day after it was 450 tipsy ladies at Hardwick Hall Ladies Day to see Joseph Whelan and Brain McFadden – Maybe saying “anyone that wants a picture with them go to the back of the room” was a bit of a school boy error – I think we set a record for the biggest meet and greet line ever!!

October started in fine style with the brilliant Shayne Ward at The Princes Trust Charity Dinner in Gateshead – What a lovely man he is to work with, and his style and vocal range completely wowed the audience! Now into the first week of October and Moulin Music Management announces that we are now the proud management of X Factor star Kerrianne Covell – It’s been a couple of busy days for her bookings diary I can tell you!

Until the next time…

Summer 2014…the story so far this year!

It’s been an amazing 6 months for corporate shows. After working several shows with Amelia Lily in previous months, February ended with two great shows on one night…Friday February 28th 2014. We had a sell out show at The Lancastrian Suite in Gateshead with X Factor star Joseph Whelan. We packed 450 screaming girls into the venue for a fun packed ladies night with food and drink a plenty. That topped off a headline tour with Joe that saw us playing in Manchester, Newcastle, and a sell out show in his home town of Birmingham.

We celebrated Ramside Hall Hotel’s 50th birthday on the same night by welcoming Tony Hadley of Spandau Ballet with his band to entertain 400 guests at a black tie dinner…..he was awesome as always! Fast Forward to May 2nd and Moulin Music brought Martin Fry & ABC to the Lobster Ball at Hardwick Hall. Some MMMTexas2900 guests partied the night away with some massive 80’s anthems from Martin and his full band.

MMMMartinFryJune saw us doing artist liaison for the Snoop Dog concert in Middlesbrough. There were 4,000 happy punters watching him and some great support from Mr Jam and Lethal Bizzle on the night.

We’re all excited about some big shows ahead this summer including the Legendary Hardwick Live with Simple Minds and The Jacksons headlining on September 12th and 13th. Last year we entertained 8,500 people with Texas and Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues orchestra. This year Simple Minds and The Jacksons headline across the two days.

Until the next time…
